Pacific Highway Upgrade: Stage 3A Statement of Heritage Impact and Stage 4A Preliminary Environmental Impact Assessment - Indigenous and non-Indigenous Heritage

Cosmos Archaeology undertook a heritage assessment for the proposed Stage 3A upgrade of the Pacific Highway from Lisarow to Ourimbah. A previous assessment identified three non-Indigenous heritage sites, although only the Lisarow Cemetery had the potential to be impacted. The proposed works had the potential to uncover unmarked burials. Recommendations included archaeological test excavations to determine the presence or absence of unmarked graves. A Preliminary EIA was also made for State 4 between Lisarow and Narara. No Indigenous sites were identified, however, seven potential archaeological deposit sites were identified. Eight built non-Indigenous heritage items were also located within the study area, all of local significance. Recommendations were made to investigate and avoid impacts to the heritage items.
