Great Western Highway Upgrade: Bullaburra West - Work Compound Site, Detention Basin and Pipeline: Aboriginal Archaeological Assessment

Cosmos Archaeology was commissioned by Hyder Consulting to undertake a Statement of Heritage Impact on four heritage items that had been identified within the proposed Great Western Highway upgrade at Bullaburra West, NSW. Only two of these were to be impacted; a remnant section of Cox’s Road over the Blue Mountains (1814- c.1920) and remaining sections of sandstone kerbing (c.1920s).

Cosmos Archaeology was also commissioned to undertake an Aboriginal archaeological reassessment of 394 Great Western Highway, Bullaburra. A previous assessment identified three potential archaeological deposits on the property. The resurvey and assessment did not identify any new Aboriginal archaeological sites, and the original three potential sites were not considered to contain any intact potential for Aboriginal archaeological deposits due to significant disturbance.
