CA Director Cosmos Coroneos recently headed west for the 2025 AAA/AIMA Conference, held at Walyalup/Fremantle. The gathering saw cultural heritage specialists from the Australian Archaeological Association and the Australasian Institute of Maritime Archaeology join forces, to celebrate the theme of “It’s About Time”- a multi-faceted exploration of temporal themes within the discipline.

Cosmos Archaeology were proud sponsors of the event, which saw a collective examination of how archaeology and maritime archaeology engage with the past, present, and future through the multi-faceted dimensions of time.

Attendees enjoyed a range of presentations as well as tours of the exceptional Western Australian Maritime Museum, which is home to the WA Shipwrecks Museum housed inside Fremantle’s historic Commissariat buildings. The Batavia Gallery is the centrepiece of the Shipwrecks Museum and contains the reconstructed remains of the VOC ship Batavia, excavated by archaeologists in the 1970s.
